Fighting Health Care Fraud Toolbox

Health care fraud is a crime – and not a victimless one.  Health care fraud causes detriment to everyone - individuals, businesses and federal and local governments.

Though only a small amount of health care providers and consumers deliberately engage in health care fraud, their actions raise the cost of health care for everyone.  Fraud drives up health insurance premiums and burdens government health care programs for the poor and elderly.  Some forms of health care fraud can result in real injury – sometimes even fatal – to fraud victims.

This toolbox provides information that consumers can use to spot health care fraud; take steps to protect themselves and their loved ones; and to report suspected fraud to the appropriate authorities.
