Internship Program

Now accepting applicants for Spring 2013 Internships

The AHIP Center for Policy and Research is seeking interns interested in enhancing their education and building work experience.  Interns function within a supervised environment, and are given responsibilities that acquaint them with how to conduct qualitative and quantitative research in support of AHIP’s policy development and advocacy activities.

Specific intern responsibilities at the Center for Policy and Research include, but are not limited to: participating in ongoing Research projects by conducting literature reviews and data analysis; attending off-site briefings and hearings on Capitol Hill and preparing written summaries and oral presentations; developing and conducting an independent research project over the course of the internship.

Who Should Apply?

AHIP internships are appropriate for both undergraduate and graduate students in fields related to health studies, economics, public policy, and related disciplines.  Individuals with strong research skills, experience and statistical and computer skills are encouraged to apply.

Internships at AHIP are unpaid.  It is preferred that students work full-time, but part-time applicants will also be considered.  The Center will complete all paperwork (e.g., evaluations) necessary for interns to receive academic credit for their work.

About AHIP and the Center for Policy and Research

Based in Washington, D.C., America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) is the national trade association representing the health insurance industry.  AHIP’s members provide health and supplemental benefits to more than 200 million Americans through employer-sponsored coverage, the individual insurance market, and public programs such as Medicare and Medicaid.  AHIP advocates for public policies that expand access to affordable health care coverage to all Americans through a competitive marketplace that fosters choice, quality and innovation.

AHIP’s Center for Policy and Research conducts and publishes original research and provides analysis and commentary on the research of others.  It seeks to demonstrate the value proposition of private health insurance plans, and educate the policy community and news media about key products and market segments that are of interest to policymakers.
